Marzuela Arab Baths

These baths were founded during the Almohad period (13th century) and remained open until the early years of the Reconquista. These were the public baths of the old district of Marzuela and belonged to the nearby mosque (now the Church of Santiago). In addition to the "barid" (cold room), "wastani" (warm room) and "sajún" (hot room), other areas of the baths have been recovered such as the "maslaj" (lobby), "furnak" (oven and boiler), woodshed, main entrance, and even the hydraulic system for collecting and removing water, making them one of the most complete examples of a "hamman" or Arab baths in all Spain.

These baths are included in the Network of Cultural Spaces of Andalusia (RECA), and after recent restoration work it was awarded the Spanish Prize for Intervention on Spanish Architectural Heritage in 2009.
