Sierra de Castril Natural Park

This Natural Park boasts deep gullies and valleys with beautiful waterfalls. It is also popular among speleologists due to its interesting caverns and grottoes. Magnificent endemic flora shared with the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park, enchanting riverside forests, its large otter population and a genetically pure variety of trout make this an extremely interesting park for nature lovers who visit this enclave.

Like the Sierra de Baza Natural Park, the Sierra de Castril Natural Park has belonged to the RENPA network since 1989, but it has also been recognised by the European Union as a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA) due to its abundant birdlife, including most notably a large nesting population of griffon vultures or the first bearded vultures reintroduced in Andalusia after their extinction in the 1980s.

The Natural Park’s Visitor Centre is located in the town of Castril.
