Sierra de Baza Natural Park has belonged to the Network of Protected Natural areas of Andalusia (RENPA) since 1989 and offers visitors the chance to walk through high Mediterranean mountain pine forests and pastures populated by Corsican pine, Scots pine and juniper forests, crossed by deer and mountain goats, discover endemic flora shared with Sierra Nevada, escape into the magical world of stream-side woods and flying birds of prey such as merlins, eagles or hawks, pick mushrooms or discover the mining landscapes that testify to the area’s rich geological resources (specifically the limestone and metamorphic siliceous rock characteristic of this mountain area). The Natural Park’s Visitor Centre, located in the old Narváez farmhouse, can be reached from the A-92 dual carriageway between Gor and Baza and serves as a gateway for visitors to discover and enjoy the Natural Park. It provides information on the Park’s heritage and the network of public trails, recreational areas or viewpoints, activities offered, etc.
