This is the westernmost town in the Granada High Plains. It sits upon a plateau formed by the valley of the Guadalentín River, the Negratín Reservoir, and the Guadiana Menor River.
The most impressive feature of its landscape is its badlands – rolling hillsides that descend down to the rivers and reservoir. This scenery, along with the traditional cave homes scattered over the area, and you have one of the quintessential settings in the High Plains.
